The phrase red ring of death will be familiar to people who have played or play Micrsofts Xbox 360. But for those who do not know it, the red ring of death mean the four quarter-circle arcs on the face of the Xbox console which, when glowing red instead of green, indicate something is wrong with the gamebox. The Xbox 360 towel fix fundamentally is to try and solve the problem that causes the 3 red lights to appear. When 3 red lights come up this indicates a video problem, and problem with the graphics card. First you take out any disks from the Xbox, split the hard drive and pull out all cables not including the power cable. You then have to find a large towel, with good insulating properties. Turn the Xbox on then cover the towel around the Xbox several times. You must then leave the Xbox for between 30-45 minutes, while the internal mechanism will get very hot. After the 30-45 minutes then unwrap the towel and plug all the cables back into the Xbox and fasten the hard drive. You should then turn the Xbox off and then back on again, it should then boot up as normal. The way the towel fix works is by heating up the connection points on the graphics card and rebuild the connection. The difficulty is many people find this to be only a provisional fix, and soon the 3 red lights will return. Many try the towel tricky yet again, however they find that it works for less and less time each time you try it, until sooner or later it stops working at all.
The extra issue with the towel fix is that there are intelligence that it does cause damage to other mechanism with the Xbox. Over heating issues are already widespread with the 360, and the towel fix makes these issues worse. So the towel tricky is not an sensible way to fix you Xbox, as it could create other issues and cancel your Microsoft warranty.

The great thing about owning all three consoles is knowing which one is the best for a fact, it has to be the Xbox 360 because of the entire experience I recieve from it. Although the Xbox 360 is my favourite of the three it isnt to say that it hasnt ghad its problems, some of which havent been solved yet.
I am still using my 20GB original console which I managed to pick up the month it was released which was very nice indeed, I also got two games with it. (more…)
