The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set

The Beatles are not a “greatest hits” type of group. You can’t purchase just the number one hits CD and be done with the lads from Liverpool. I believe the majority of their best tracks were not their big hits but were their more experimental recordings such as “Tomorrow Never Knows.”

If you really want to understand The Beatles music you must listen to their CDs as a whole rather than just hearing a song here and a song there. (more…)

The Beatles in Stereo Box Set

For many years people have been waiting for The Beatles classic albums to be made available as downloadable mp3s so that their songs could easily be put onto iPods (and other mp3 players such as the Zune). As of now, the Fab Four are still not available to be purchased as downloads but there is something called The Beatles USB Flash Drive which includes all of the 2009 Beatles remastered songs as mp3s.

Many Beatles fans feel that vinyl LPs are the ultimate way to listen to music. These people believe there is some kind of magic to seeing the “black circle” (to quote Eddie Vedder) spin and knowing that the amazing sound you are listening to is coming from a needle in the record’s groove.

It is this feeling that has Beatles addicts extremely excited about the rumors of The Beatles 2009 remasters making their way onto vinyl in 2010. (more…)

The Beatles in Stereo Box Set

The Beatles second UK LP (With The Beatles) is not among my favorite Beatles albums, in actuality I think it’s probably their least great album. That’s not to imply I do not enjoy listening to this early classic in it’s 2009 remastered format nor is it to imply that With The Beatles doesn’t have any good songs on it because I do and it does.

I do think that when looking only at the 8 Beatles originals on the record, it’s probably the least inspiring collection of originals the band ever released on an album (the underrated Beatles For Sale (1964) has a far better collection of 8 original songs in my opinion) on the other hand, the six covers on this album are quite good (superior to the six covers on Beatles For Sale, which was their fourth album.)

My most favorite originals to listen to on the With The Beatles Remastered CDs (stereo and mono) are the first three songs: “It Won’t Be Long,” “All I’ve Got To Do,” and “All My Loving.” In particular I’ve been loving song number two, “All I’ve Got To Do” in the remastered mono. (more…)

The many leaps forward in technology and all of the knowledge learned of how to most effectively remaster original analog tapes digitally have been put to good use with the remastered Beatles releases of 2009.
