Putting Passion Back in Your Kitchens Style
Jeremy Artsmith – Kitchens are inherently artistic, vivacious, creative spaces. The cook hustles and bustles throughout the room, working constantly on the creation of a unique array of culinary treats to feed and sustain the home and family. That is why it’s important to add a little bit of unique flair, and even inspiration to the kitchen, to help ensure that the chef always feels the impetus to put their best foot forward.
kitchen table surfaces and counters are the pedestals of the room. They can be used quite effective for adding a touch of personality and flair to the space. Counters are often taken up with functional items and cookware, but you generally have a corner or nook where you can slip a bud vase, or other attractive piece. Kitchen tables of course, are great places to create elaborate settings, with centerpieces and table cloths all available to help you add a little style to the space.
Of course, the colors used can be very important here. A drab, white tile kitchen can be pretty unimpressive if left without contrasting factors. Use a variety of earth tones, and natural hues in this space, in order to stimulate our primal hunger instincts. In general you should stay away from dreary black colors which can actually radiate heat in an already warm environment, unless you are using them to contrast with a mostly white pattern.
You should also try to create an atmosphere which caters to the personal nature of the chef themself. Attempt to locate home accessories pieces that touch them in a personal way. If cooking for a family, photos of relatives and children, protected by appropriate frames can remind them what they’re cooking for. Art that is particularly attuned to their preferences or even just symbolic pieces that evoke particular feelings can work.
By adding personality, energy, and inspiration to the kitchen, it can become more than just a den of slaves, toiling tirelessly at meals for the hungry masses. It can actually be an environment that uplifts and inspires, encouraging the chef to do better and better with their culinary attempts.
