If you are having people get together for a game night you do not have to buy an expensive board game. Instead there are a lot of great dice games which you can play and have an extremely fun experience.

So, what are some games which you can play with only a few dice?

Zilch

The zilch game is a very fun game, which I consider one of the best games ever created. Everyone has a turn rolling 6 dice and they can get points by rolling patterns. These can be either 3 of a kind or more or straits. Depending on the pattern you get a certain amount of points, and if you manage to use all of the dice you will be able to roll all 6 again.

The great thing about this game is that you can be as risky or as cautious as you want. Once you have 300 points you are free to quit and keep your points, or you can keep rolling and attempt to get a much higher score. But if you don’t get anything on a later throw then you lose all of your points for that turn.

All the points are added together until someone reaches 10000 points, the one who has the most at the end wins.

3 or More

In this game you can roll 5 dice and you have to get a 3 of a kind or better in order to recieve points. 3 of a kind equals 3 points 4 of a kind equals 6 points and 5 of a kind equals 12 points. If you don’t get at least 3 of a kind then you get 0 points. The one with the most points after x amount of turns wins.

High Roller

There was a game show called high roller which created their own dice game. You write down the numbers 1-9 on a piece of paper and can then cross them off based on the numbers that you have rolled. You get 2 dice to roll and can use the numbers you roll to cross off one number from the list. For instance if you roll a 3 and a 6 then you can either cross out a 9 or you can decide to cross out both the 3 and the 6.

Every point that you roll must be used in order to cross something off of your list. You can keep rolling for as long as you would like or until you roll something that does not allow you to cross of anything else on your list. At this point your turn is over and someone else’s turn begins. Whoever can cross off the most numbers from their list wins.

These are just a few of the dice games that you can play with your family. They are cheap to play, you only need to have dice, and they are very fun. Try them out for yourself and you will see that you don’t need to go buying a big board game to have a great family game night.
