Bondage 101: Use and Safety of Nipple Clamps
Nipple clamps are a great way to add new sensations and options to any relationship or solo play. With their increased popularity you can now find a wide variety of clamps with a wide variety of intensities. Some are made not to cause any pain at all and some are designed for serious BDSM lovers in mind that provide a high level of pain.
Nipple clamps and their use
Although nipple clamps are designed for the nipple in mind don’t get caught in the mind set that they can only be used on that one body part. Nipple clamps can be used anywhere, a great place for both men and women is the genital region. Even the clitoris can be a wonderful place for an adjustable clamp.
Here I will discuss ideas on using nipple clamps on the nipples, as they are designed to be used. The first thing to do before putting on a clamp is to make sure your nipple is nice and erect. This can easily be acheived through mental or physical arousal, if your nipples are being difficult you should try an ice cube as they can work wonders. When you’re ready to put on the clamp, if you haven’t used this particular type of clamp, you should probably put it on slowly. Too quickly can cause a painful shock if it’s too strong, which will rapidly ruin the mood.
Many nipple clamps are adjustable, you can change the amount of pressure on the clamped area, this is great for beginners and those with sensitive nipples. If you like more pressure but not the pinch you should try to get as much flesh as possible. The more flesh you get the wider the area that the clamp is putting pressure on, thus reducing or eliminating that sharp pinch. Once the nipple is clamped there is a whole new world of sensations awaiting you. Anything can be used to further stimulate the nipple, including feathers, fingers, tongues, a light whipping or, my favorite, a mini vibrator. Lightly touching a small vibe onto the tip of a clamped nipple can provide some absolutely wonderful sensations.
Many people either have much less sensitive nipples or enjoy seriously intense sensations and pain. For those of you who fall into one of those categories, don’t worry, there are nipple clamps out there just for you. The most basic form is the ‘endurance clamp’, this is simply a non-adjustable nipple clamp that has one setting, high. Once clamped these hold firm and can be pulled on for some extra intensity. There is another type of extreme nipple clamp that has teeth, these clamps typically don’t have any rubber padding and provide the user with a very sharp bite, creating a high amount of pain.
A couple nipple clamp safety thoughts
One of the ways nipple clamps provide so much pleasure is by creating a slight reduction in blood circulation, this also means, especially for really tightly clamped nipples, you probably should limit its use to about 15-20 minutes at a time. Something to keep in mind when using nipple clamps is that the most painful part will be when the clamp is actually removed and the longer the clamp is on to begin with the more it will hurt when taken off.
Just like all male sex toys out there you should clean your nipple clamps regularly, they can get dirty and nobody wants to put on dirty clamps. Besides, who wants a nipple infection? Not me.
An important note to keep in mind is the fact that all nipples are different, some people have incredibly sensitive nipples and don’t enjoy any pain at all and thus need only very light clamps and stimulation. Then there are those whose nipples are not sensitive or who enjoy more intense sensations and pain on their nipples. So don’t feel embarrased if you can’t tolerate as much as your partner, no two sets of nipples are made the same.
Keep in mind, there are many styles of sex toys you can find that you can use with or on your partner, from vibrators to fleshlights, they they were created for you to enjoy, use them!
