The Beatles 2009 Remasters
The Beatles in Stereo Remastered Box Set
The Beatles classic LPs were originally digitally remastered and released on CD in the late 80s at that time remastering for CD was still a new art and since then a whole bunch has been found out about how to master more effectively but even more important is all of the many technological advances during that time.
The many leaps forward in technology and all of the knowledge learned of how to most effectively remaster original analog tapes digitally have been put to good use with the remastered Beatles releases of 2009. On September 9 The Beatles released both The Beatles in Stereo and The Beatles Mono Box Set. And both box sets sound absolutely fantastic. If you’ve yet to hear ‘em, I recommend you get your hands on The Beatles remasters as soon as you can.
Which flavor of Beatles remasters should you get? Well for this guy the answer was simply “all of them” but if you can only afford you’ll probably go with the Beatles in Stereo since it contains all 13 of their studio LPs and most listeners do want to listen to the stereo versions more than the mono.
The Beatles Mono Box Set is aimed at hardcore Beatles fans who want to hear all of the differences between the mono and stereo mixes (and sometimes they are very different from each other) and for those who want to listen to The Beatles how they originally listened to them (this, of course, applies to the original fans who were around for The Beatles in the flesh in the 1960s.)
I think these Beatles remasters are also important to listen to for those who record music at home, it’s a good idea to listen to the sound of the best band in popular music history when you’re recording and mixing music.
For recording hobbyists, I definitely recommend bookmarking this music recording blog.
