Oil Filled Radiators and the Old
For the elderly especially, keeping warm in the colder winter months is much more cost effective with oil filled radiators. When compared to perhaps the more traditional forms of heating such as gas and electric heaters or central heating, oil filled radiators come out ahead.
Whereas central heating can be expensive to run, electric heaters can become very hot when close to them meaning they can be dangerous for children or the elderly. Not only this, but electric heaters are never that effective at managing to heat up a space or room. As the elements of the electric heater are exposed and become very hot, this poses a very real threat as a fire hazard. And gas heaters have the problem of dangerous fumes escaping, which can make these hazardous as well.
Oil filled radiators on the other hand are safer and much more energy efficient. These radiators use heat conserving oil which is heated and then circulated around the actual radiator. The heat is then radiated into the room, heating up the cold air it meets. As the oil inside the radiator is never burned, this means the radiator never has to be replenished meaning the whole device is very cost efficient.
These oil filled radiators are perfect for the elderly in the winter as they will keep a room at the perfect temperature and they will not waste heat elsewhere. Winter can be a treacherous time for older people who simply cannot afford the high costs of central heating. We hear many horror stories of the old and infirm getting sick during the winter months because they are very reluctant to switch on their central heating. An oil filled radiator can help to reduce the costs and keep them warm the whole winter through. And another great thing about oil filled radiators is the fact that their surfaces never reach the dangerous levels that could prove so dangerous for the elderly and the very young.
