How back links affect the number of visitors to your website
Before putting any effort whatsoever into creating any web pages you should have considered how you intend to get people to visit and ‘consume’ your content. Whether your website is commercial or not then sooner or later you are going to want to attract visitors. You should devote your energies to getting the search engines to direct as many visitors as possible to your web pages. If you are just starting out there is no better form of traffic than the type that comes from the search engines as it wont cost you a penny and it very targeted.
Search engines make money through presenting searchers with answers they are looking for. The number one goal of every search engine is to attract users and increase loyalty and this can only be done by delivering what the searchers are looking for in a relevant and timely fashion. More users returning, means more popularity and more sales. The search engine objectives are very similar to the ones you should set for your web pages.Acquire users and keep them coming back.
So what should you do?. You have two choices but there is nothing to stop you doing both if you have money and time. You can pay for advertising, commonly known as Pay per Click or you can create great content and get people to link to it.
Search engines have a simple philosophy that nothing exists on the web without a keyword or a key phrase . The whole user experience starts with a keyword or key phrase being entered into the search engine to tell it what the user is looking for. The search engine goes and looks in its vast index of web pages and selects the most relevant web pages and then returns them in a list that is ordered in terms of relevance and authority. Search engines use relevance and authority to decide what pages get returned and presented to the searcher.
Authority is determined in the main by search engines view of how many back links a web page has and relevance is related to the presence of keywords in the content of the web page(s). Search engines calculate the position of a web page in a returned list of results by measuring the authority and number of backlinks to each page.
Back links are critical to the quality of the search engines perception of your web pages.
Back links not only determine your position in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) but are a major source of visitor traffic. Users will follow links they find in content if the back link is labelled with relevant text. ‘Anchor text’ is the correct term to describe the text appearing as a link and contributes to the value given to the link by the search engines. Back links fall into a range of values that are derived from origin and anchor text.
Back links from web pages that contain content related to your web page have an impact on the authority of your web page.Significantly authoritative web pages can pass some of their authority through the back links to your page.
