Are Free Music Downloads A Good Or Bad Thing?
This is something that many artists get angry over and many even promote it, but is downloading illegal music a bad idea or does it have benefits?
The Good
The great thing about it is that you can listen to the album before you go to the shops and buy it, only liking a few songs means that you only have to buy the songs that you like. This is one of the advantages to this as there are so many albums out there that just do not have that many good songs within it. Money is a really big problem at the moment which is why there has been a rise in the people that are downloading all of this music for free.
The Quite Bad
The thing is, everyone seems to know that music downloading for free is something that is not allowed. There are so many people out there that think why should you pay for things like McDonalds and tobacco when they are bad for you when music is enoyed and good. Well because people can. If someone was to try and get these for free they would be thrown in a cell for five years, why should it be different for music.
People tend to forget that that this is actually illegal and shouldn’t be done.
The just plain Ugly
Artists like Shakira actually believe that when her fans are downloading the music for free that they feel more connected with her and appreciate her a lot more. This really is fine for her to say as she has a lot of money in the bank to sit on if it actually goes the wrong way for her. Lily Allen is certainly right in saying that people should pay for the music, not doing so isnt fair on anyone. This is because it is actually very expensive for artists to make an album. People forget that writing music takes a lot of time and that there are so many bands out there that make no money through t-shirts and concert sales.
Bands must fork out to buy all of their different guitars like acoustic guitars and the bass guitars.
Spotify has shown that illrgal downloads are a thing of the past as you can listen to the album for free without downloading it or buying it and the best thing is that it is legal so there are no excuses.
