Don’t Overlook Your Travel Agent When Seeking Budget Travel Deals
Not so many years ago the words ‘cheap’ and ‘travel’ would rarely have been used together. But we live in the age of low cost travel with cut price airlines competing for business with ever lower air fares to many of the world’s most popular destinations.
Another factor that has boosted the whole low cost travel industry is the internet. This enables anyone anywhere to search for the best prices on air fares and hotel accommodation. This has made it necessary for travel agents to completely rethink the way that they make their money. After all, why would anyone go to a travel agent when they can find and book their holiday using their computer?
Another side effect of increased competition is that the quality of service that you can get from travel agents and companies providing travel services has improved immeasurably. Travel agents will bend over backwards to fulfill your every desire, just to get your valuable business.
If you are planning a budget vacation and plan to do it all yourself from your computer it’s always a good idea to compare what you find online with what can be provided by your local travel agent. You could find yourself pleasantly surprised.
For example, I recently enjoyed a 10 day skiing holiday that I’d originally researched online. I gathered the prices for my hotel, flights, travel insurance etc. and then I called into a nearby travel agents while on my work lunch break.
I gave them the prices and details I’d gathered in my research and they surprised me by offering a package deal, staying at a far better hotel, for an even lower price. What’s more, it included specialist ski insurance in the price. Also, since I was planning to do a little mountaineering while on vacation I needed some additional adventure travel insurance that would cover this. They identified the exact policy I needed at a rock bottom price.
So its worth remembering that not all cheap travel deals are exclusively available online. Be certain not to overlook the exceptional deals that are available from your high street travel agent.
