Phelps Tries to Change Swimming Law
Michael Phelps today expressed a keen interest for swimming suits to be phased out of swimming all together and to let the sport get back to basics.
Phelps surprisingly lost his first major race in the 200 meter free style against Biedermann in Germany. It is arguable to say that the swim suit Phelps wears (Speedo LZR) is not as technologicall advanced as the Arena X-Glide that his rival wears in the water.
At the same time the problem is quite specific to the sport but that is not as far into detail as we can go. For example, Phelps could of easily commented about the swimming pool chemicals not being a the correct level or the fact that the arena does not offer enough eco friendly swimming pool solutions as other places. Funnily enough these are all excuses that other swimmers have come up with in the past to cover up there loss, now is this what Phelps is doing? The competitor is so use to succeeding maybe it is time that he loses one once in a while to bring him back down to earth. After his rampant winning streak at the recent Olympics it is a novelty to see Phelps not win anything at all.
So instead of blaming the pool filters we have what I would consider a sore loser to be complaining about swim suits. Can a swimsuit make that much of a difference amoungst all of this? It is arguable to say that they can’t but we will have to see?
Phelps has commented that he is looking forward to swimming getting back to swimming. the eight time gold medal winner later added that he is looking forward to facing up against Biedermann in the summer.
There is no doubt that the Beijing Olympics have been an absolute success for Phelps but can he continue his good fortune at the London 2012?
