Bronchitis is an acute respiratory disease. It is a swelling of air tubes that is characterised by cough, hacking cough, difficulty in breathing & sputum.
There are two main types of bronchitis: ACUTE and CHRONIC. Acute bronchitis is a common disease that generally protracts for a short period of time and is caused by flu, the common cold, or an microbiosis. Hence, this kind of bronchitis is extremely infectious & is hereditary through cough, sneezing & merely by touching objects that have been touched by an infected person.
Chronic bronchitis is the other kind of the disease. Unlike acute bronchitis, it protracts for a longer period of time. Its conditions are similar to those of acute bronchitic: cough and difficulty in breathing. Yet, its causes differ greatly. Chronic bronchitis is usually caused by smoking, second hand smoke, a virus and so on and so forth. In fact, it is not transmitted from one persong to another. Yet, it not less annoying.
Though the causes are different, the two types have much in common. Both of them are antibiotic-resistant. A virus causes bronchitis, and virus infections do not react to the germ-killing properties of antibiotics. They are efficacious against bacterial infections (for example strep throat and bladder infections). Antibiotics can also lead to complications, such as diarrhea and yeast infections. More than that, they can undermine your immune system. So, antibiotics may cause more harm than good if they are not used properly.
Whatever type of bronchitis you have, it starts with hacking cough & gradually turns into expectoration accompanied by fever, pounding headaches & exhaustion.
As long as you have the conditions, your acute bronchitis is infectious. It you have had this disease for more than half a year, you should have an appointment with your GP to check for other health problems.
The spread of bronchitis can be avoided. An infected person should observe a healthy hygiene by regularly washing hands and covering the mouth when coughing and sneezing.
The best cure for bronchitis is herbal remedies. They will not damage your health as antibiotics can do & target the root causes. Herbal cures are effective against both acute and chronic bronchitis.
Take all the necessary preventive actions to avoid the disease. Any disease is better to avoid than to cure.
